A discoursive-functional study of relative clauses in Portuguese: reflections on teaching
This work problematizes the traditional, mechanical, decontextualized and classificatory teaching of relative clauses at school and intends to rethink the relativization from the actual use of language.

Why Functional Discourse Grammar is Not, and Could Not Be, a Discourse Grammar
espanolEste articulo hace un seguimiento del debate sobre el papel del discurso dentro de la Gramatica Funcional (GF), debate al que Jose Gomez Solino ha contribuido, y que acabo dando lugar a la Gramatica Discursivo-Funcional (GDF) como gramatica del ...

Diskurzní částice now a její české ekvivalenty [PDF]
This article, theoretically anchored in functional and systemic grammar, focuses on the discourse marker now and its Czech functional equivalents. Discourse markers belong to the system of communicatively-regulative units that help to regulate the smooth

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

The interaction between context and grammar in functional discourse grammar [PDF]
Functional Discourse Grammar (Hengeveld and Mackenzie 2008) is, as the name suggests, a functional theory of grammar which also takes into consideration aspects of the discourse context in which utterances are used. It is functional in that it assumes that the structure of linguistic utterances is not arbitrary but motivated by the communicative ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...
