Functions and Functional Equations

2015
The concept of function is one of the most important in mathematics. A function is a relation between elements of two sets X and Y , which we denote by f : X → Y , that satisfies.

A Functional Equation

SIAM Review, 1971
Existence theorems for and the determination of continuous solutions, defined on the real axis R, of the functional equationf (t)=A[t,f (at−b),f (at−c)], wherea, b, and c are real parameters, A:R×E×E → E is a continuous operator, and E is a Banach space.

Fixed points and stability of nonic functional equation in quasi-β-normed spaces

, 2015
In this paper we present the general solution of a nonic functional equation and prove the stability of nonic functional equation in quasi- β- normed spaces by applying the fixed point method.

On the functional equation

Complex Variables, Theory and Application: An International Journal, 2001
The functional equation with polynomials P1,…,Pm is related to the question when the image of a holomorphic mapping of finite order must lie in an algebraic curve of P 3, where D is the union of a hypersurface of degree two and three hyperplanes. In this paper we discuss this equation for holomorphic functions in an angular domain and show that, under ...

On a functional equation

Acta Mathematica Scientia, 2009
Abstract In this article, the author derives a functional equation (1) η ( s ) = [ ( π 4 ) s - 1 2 2 π Γ ( 1 - s ) sin ( π s 2 ) ] η ( 1 - s ) of the analytic function η( s ) which is defined by (2) η ( s ) = 1 - s - 3 - s - 5 - s

A functional equation

Mathematical Notes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1969
The translational functional equation (1) with right-hand side analytic in a finite convex region D is investigated. It is proved that a solution exists which is analytic in a finite convex region G1 determined by G. A corollary of this result is the existence of analytic solutions of differential-difference equations of finite order and of difference ...

On a functional differential equation

Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics, 2017
© 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Conditions for the existence and uniqueness of a solution to a problem for a functional differential equation are presented. A special case of this equation is a functional differential equation derived previously by the authors for the distribution density of the brightness of light in interstellar space in the case of

On the Robustness of Functional Equations

SIAM Journal on Computing, 1999
In this paper, we study the general question of how characteristics of functional equations influence whether or not they are robust. We isolate examples of properties which are necessary for the functional equations to be robust. On the other hand, we show other properties which are sufficient for robustness.
