Material Functions for Generalized Newtonian Fluids

Transactions of the Society of Rheology, 1970
The concept of the generalized Newtonian fluid (GNF) provides a useful basis for the formulation of constitutive equations for real materials. The purpose of this paper is to review the rational foundations of the generalized Newtonian fluid, and to discuss the problems involved in its practical application to real materials.

A Modified Functional Expansion for Viscoelastic Fluids

Proceedings of Symposium on Mechanics of Rheologically Complex Fluids, 1966
A rheological equation for viscoelastic fluids is derived as an expansion of Noll's functional for simple fluids. The present expansion is developed in terms of the deformation rate referred to a co-rotational material frame. The resulting series of approximations for the stress differs significantly from those proposed previously by Green and Rivlin ...

Direct correlation function in fluid interfaces

Physical Review A, 1985
It is shown that in the absence of a macroscopic external field, the direct correlation function in the planar interface between two fluid phases has a slow decay in the transverse directions. This is in contrast to all earlier assumptions and approximate results.
