Functional group analysis

Analytical Chemistry, 1972
Analytical methods for functional group analysis are reviewed. Literature reviewed is from the period of December 1983 through November 1985 and presents methods for determining the following compounds: acids, acid halides, active hydrogen, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, amides, amines, amino acids, anhydrides, aromatic hydrocarbons, azo compounds ...

Functional Group Basis Sets

Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2005
The electronic properties of molecular functional groups (methyl, benzyl, etc.) are generally conserved across different molecules. However, atomic basis sets use the same electronic variational space on an element regardless of the functional group it is in.

A Photobasic Functional Group

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2015
Controlling chemical reactivity using light is a longstanding practice within organic chemistry, yet little has been done to modulate the basicity of compounds. Reported herein is a triazabutadiene that is rendered basic upon photoisomerization. The pH of an aqueous solution containing the water-soluble triazabutadiene can be adjusted with 350 nm light.
