Biplanar radiographic analysis of knee alignment: a stepwise approach for phenotype classification and knee arthroplasty planning

open access: yesEFORT Open Reviews
This review presents a standardized, stepwise method for biplanar radiographic analysis of knee alignment, integrating both coronal and sagittal measurements for use in arthritic and non-arthritic knees.: It critically compares leading classification ...

Review Article: Patellar Instability after Total Knee Arthroplasty

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2009
Patellar instability after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a serious complication that impairs functional outcome and may lead to revision surgery. Its aetiology can be related to the surgical technique and component positioning, extensor mechanism ...

Personalized alignment in total knee arthroplasty: current concepts

open access: yesSICOT-J, 2021
Traditionally in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), a post-operative neutral alignment was the gold standard. This principle has been contested as functional outcomes were found to be inconsistent.

Pain and Patient‐Reported Physical Function Did Not Differ Among Body Composition Profiles in Patients With Hip Osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To explore whether higher body fat and lower lean mass are associated with greater pain and worse patient‐reported physical function in individuals with hip osteoarthritis (OA). A secondary aim was to examine whether pain and patient‐reported physical function differ according to four body composition profiles: high body fat, low lean mass ...

Patellar Tracking in Total Knee Arthroplasty—Influence on Clinical and Functional Outcome

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2022
Anterior knee pain is a common problem after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The aim of this study was to find parameters in patellar positioning which influence the clinical and functional outcome after TKA.

A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.
