Enhancing Volumetric Energy Density in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries through Highly Dense, Low Tortuosity Sulfur Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the development of highly dense sulfur electrodes with a vascular pore network and low tortuosity using a shear‐force densification method. The study investigates how this innovative approach improves electrode performance, enhancing both volumetric energy density and cycling stability for lithium─sulfur batteries.

Scandium Induced Structural Disorder and Vacancy Engineering in Li3Sb – Superior Ionic Conductivity in Li3−3xScxSb

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A superionic conductivity of 42 mS cm−1 at 298 K is reported for Li2.55Sc0.15Sb, which exceeds the highest ionic conductivity reported for a solid Li‐ion conductor to date by 10 mS cm−1. In the series Li3−3xScxSb (0 < x ≤ 0.15), the gradual incorporation of Sc facilitates vacancy formation, converting pristine Li3Sb from an electrical to an ionic ...

Printable Carbon‐Based Thermogalvanic Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
The performance of printable active carbon as the electrodes of thermogalvanic cells is investigated. The maximum output power can be doubled by multilayer printing of the electrode, which reduces the internal resistance of the cell. Thermogalvanic cells (TGCs) can convert low‐grade heat directly into electricity through reversible redox reactions ...
