Abstract Purpose Isotropic submillimeter high‐resolution functional MRI (fMRI) facilitates noninvasive investigation of neuronal activities at the mesoscale level, including cortical columns and laminae. However, the task‐evoked functional activity becomes less detectable when using single‐shot echo planar imaging (EPI) with parallel imaging techniques

gammaSTAR: A framework for the development of dynamic, real‐time capable MR sequences
Abstract Purpose To present the real‐time capability and advanced MR sequence library of the MR sequence development framework gammaSTAR. Methods The presented platform consists of four different components: (1) a frontend for sequence development combined with a Python backend for sequence generation; (2) a Lua backend for the creation of hardware ...

Using PINS pulses to saturate inflow effects on fMRI data at 3 and 7 T
Abstract Purpose To suppress inflow effects by saturating the magnetization within slice gaps. Methods Power independent of number of slices (PINS) pulses was designed to saturate the magnetization in all slice gaps at once. The PINS saturation module was played before every excitation.

Steady‐state free precession for T2* relaxometry: All echoes in every readout with k‐space aliasing
Abstract Purpose Multi‐echo gradient echo imaging is useful for a range of applications including relaxometry, susceptibility mapping, and quantifying relative proportions of fat and water. This relies primarily on long‐TR multi‐echo gradient echo sequences (FLASH), which by design isolate one signal component (i.e., echo) at a time per readout.
