Functional relations and the Yang-Baxter algebra
Functional equations methods are a fundamental part of the theory of Exactly Solvable Models in Statistical Mechanics and they are intimately connected with Baxter's concept of commuting transfer matrices.

Privileged (Default) Causal Cognition: A Mathematical Analysis
Causal cognition is a key part of human learning, reasoning, and decision-making. In particular, people are capable of learning causal relations from data, and then reasoning and planning using those cognitive representations.

Following Baxter's method of producing Q_{72}-operator, we construct the Q-operator of the root-of-unity eight-vertex model for the crossing parameter $\eta = \frac{2m K}{N}$ with odd $N$ where Q_{72} does not exist.

The developing relations between networks of cortical myelin and neurophysiological connectivity
Recent work identified that patterns of distributed brain regions sharing similar myeloarchitecture are related to underlying functional connectivity, demonstrating cortical myelin's plasticity to changes in functional demand.

A Finite Axiomatization of G-Dependence
We show that a form of dependence known as G-dependence (originally introduced by Grelling) admits a very natural finite axiomatization, as well as Armstrong relations.

Onsager-Machlup theory for nonequilibrium steady states and fluctuation theorems
A generalization of the Onsager-Machlup theory from equilibrium to nonequilibrium steady states and its connection with recent fluctuation theorems are discussed for a dragged particle restricted by a harmonic potential in a heat reservoir.

From Quantum B\"acklund Transforms to Topological Quantum Field Theory [PDF]
We derive the quantum analogue of a B\"acklund transformation for the quantised Ablowitz-Ladik chain, a space discretisation of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation. The quantisation of the Ablowitz-Ladik chain leads to the $q$-boson model.
