Fontan procedure for functionally single ventricle and double-inlet ventricle
2018In 1971, Fontan and Baudet published their landmark paper describing a surgical correction whereby the pulmonary and systemic circulations were placed in series in a patient with tricuspid atresia. Since that time, the indications for this procedure have been extended to include all defects with a functionally univentricular heart.

This study describes the clinical presentation and early operative results of adults who have undergone Fontan modifications.Between July 1995 and April 2003, 23 patients (>18 years old) had Fontan operations.
