Adaptive vegetation change as a pathway to sustain wetland nitrogen cycling

open access: yesEcological Processes
Background Wetlands provide a wide range of ecosystem services. However, climate change and its associated drought events are a direct threat to their integrity, notably to their fauna and flora and especially water supply dependent species.

EXTRAPOLATING THE SUITABILITY OF SOILS AS NATURAL REACTORS USING AN EXISTING SOIL MAP: APPLICATION OF PEDOTRANSFER FUNCTIONS, SPATIAL INTEGRATION AND VALIDATION PROCEDURES

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2011
The aim of this study was the spatial identification of the suitability of soils as reactors in the treatment of swine wastewater in the Mexican state of Yucatan, as well as the development of a map with validation procedures. Pedotransfer functions were applied to the existing soils database.

Selenium‐Based Nanoplatforms: An Emerging Theranostic Paradigm for Gynecological Cancers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This reivew summarizes Selenium as a multifunctional anticancer regulator in gynecological cancers. It reduces tumor risk, enhances therapeutic efficacy, and reduces treatment toxicity. Selenium also overcomes chemoraditherapy resistance, improving overall treatment outcomes. ABSTRACT Gynecological cancers present significant therapeutic challenges due

Integrating Microbiological quality indicators and soil properties through score functions to assessment land uses change in Colombian andisols.

open access: yes, 2021
The individual interpretation of microbial indicators of soil functionality is often confusing. In addition, the high cost of measuring some of the indicators limit the studies oriented to provide early warnings of changes in soil functionality. We propose a methodology for integrating variables with scoring functions to evaluate the capacity of a set ...

Chitosan‐Carbon Dot Composite Materials Form a Leaf Surface Barrier to Mitigate the Enrichment and Invasion of Nanoplastics: From Leaf Interface to Systemic Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.
