The effects of exposure to imagery created with generative artificial intelligence (gen-AI) on young women's body image: Do image type and disclosure matter?

open access: yesComputers in Human Behavior: Artificial Humans
It has been predicted that soon a majority of online content will be created with generative artificial intelligence, or gen-AI. Yet, there is currently limited knowledge about how exposure to content created by gen-AI may impact users' body image.

De novo origin of human protein-coding genes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2011
The de novo origin of a new protein-coding gene from non-coding DNA is considered to be a very rare occurrence in genomes. Here we identify 60 new protein-coding genes that originated de novo on the human lineage since divergence from the chimpanzee. The

“Seeing Myself as a Whole”: An IPA Study Exploring Positive Body Image Through Greek Women’s Embodied Experiences

open access: yesWomen
Positive Body Image (PBI) has been conceptualized as a multidimensional construct encompassing acceptance, functionality appreciation, and self-care, yet little is known about the lived processes through which women move from self-criticism to ...

Shedding Light on the Extended Mind: HoloLens, Holograms, and Internet-Extended Knowledge

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
The application of extended mind theory to the Internet and Web yields the possibility of Internet-extended knowledge—a form of extended knowledge that arises as a result of an individual's interactions with the online environment.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
