Free vibrations and static analysis of functionally graded sandwich plates with three-dimensional finite elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A three-dimensional modelling of free vibrations and static response of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich plates is presented. Natural frequencies and associated mode shapes as well as displacements and stresses are determined by using the ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti60–Ti2AlNb functionally graded materials fabricated by laser directed energy deposition

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The increasing demands for materials that service under high temperature environments in advanced aero-engines with high thrust-to-weight ratios have led to the exploration of functionally graded materials, which can offer unique advantages for ...

Characterization of functionally graded Al-SiCp metal matrix composites manufactured by centrifugal casting

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2017
The design of metal matrix composites can be enhanced by integrating the concept of functionally graded materials (FGM) to produce engineering materials with tailored contradictory properties that suit multifunctioning components.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Homemade yeast by using tropical fruits through fermentation process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Yeast is one type of bacteria that is used in baking industry and as the crucial parameters to determine the softness of the bread. Many tropical fruits can be used as a medium to produce yeast. The main goal of this study is to produce homemade yeast by

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
