Thermal Divergence of Supersonic Functionally Graded Plates

Journal of Thermal Stresses, 2011
This paper presents the thermal divergence analysis of supersonic plates made of functionally graded materials. The governing equations are based on the first-order shear deformation theory. The effects of steady aerodynamic pressure loadings in conjunction with elevated temperature are evaluated.

Thermal snapping of functionally graded materials plates

Materials & Design, 2009
Abstract The nonlinear behavior of functionally graded materials (FGM) plates exposed to a high temperature environment on one side of the surface is investigated here using neutral surface-based first-order shear deformation theory. The material considered here is graded in the thickness direction and a simple power law based on the rule of mixture ...

Hygrothermal postbuckling behavior of functionally graded plates

Composite Structures, 2013
Abstract This work considers the postbuckling behaviors of Functionally Graded Material (FGM) plate in hygrothermal environments. Basically, the structures change continuously in the thickness direction according to the volume fractions of the material. For the description of the model, the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used, and von

Mechanical behavior of porous functionally graded plates

STUDIES IN ENGINEERING AND EXACT SCIENCES
In this study, the effect of porosity distribution pattern on the bending and free vibration analysis of porous FG plates is studied by using sinusoidal shear deformation theory. This theory account for sinusoidal variation of transverse shear strain through the depth of the plate and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of ...

Surrogate Based Optimization of Functionally Graded Plates

Ibero-Latin American Congress on Computational Methods in Engineering (CILAMCE)
Functionally Graded Materials (FGM) are composites, usually made of ceramic and metal, in which the volume fraction of their constituents varies smoothly along an interest direction. These materials were initially proposed as a solution for the development of thermal barriers, but are currently used in different applications.

Thermoelastic Deformations of Functionally Graded Materials Plates

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
The governing equation of thermoelastic FGM thin plates was obtained by degenerating the governing equation of thermoviscoelastic FGM thin plates. A Navier solution of a simply supported FGM rectangular plate under thermal loads was get. Based on the Navier solution, the influence of considering and ignoring mid-plane stain, due to the inhomogeneous ...

Vibration Analysis of Functionally Graded Material Plate

2020
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) are the advanced materials in the family of engineering composites made of two or more constituent phases with continuous and smoothly varying composition. Nine noded heterosis plate element is used to formulate the elastic stiffness matrix and mass matrix.

Dynamic analysis of porous functionally graded plates

STUDIES IN ENGINEERING AND EXACT SCIENCES
This study investigates the natural frequency behavior of porous functionally graded (FG) plates using a novel shape function to model material gradation and porosity. The research employs higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT) to account for material property variations across the thickness of the plate, modeled using power-law distributions.

Stability of functionally graded hybrid composite plates

Composites Engineering, 1995
This paper presents a formulation of the stability problem for a rectangular composite plate reinforced by two types of fibers, one of them being both stiffer and more expensive than the other. An obvious design solution based on cost containment is to concentrate stiffer and more expensive fibers in the area of the plate where they can provide a ...
