Monitoring resources in function-as-a-service platforms

open access: yes, 2023
Functions deployed in Function-as-Service (FaaS) platforms need to be monitored regarding resource consumption, errors, and application-specific metrics. Platforms like Google Cloud Functions or Azure Functions have dashboards and Web APIs that expose information about the execution of functions.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Comparison of FaaS Cloud Platforms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Üha enam arendatakse tarkvara pilves ning viimastel aastatel on tekkinud uus võimalus hostida pilves tervete rakenduste asemel ainult funktsioone. Selliseid lahendusi kutsutakse FaaS (Functions-as-a-Service) platvormideks ning käesolev töö annab ülevaate

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Characterization of containers in emerging applications: Microservices, FAAS and GPUS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Containers have enabled new computing paradigms such as Functions-as-a- Service in data centers today. Containers are inherently more lightweight than virtual machines.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Function composition in function-as-a-service platforms

open access: yes, 2023
Serverless computing is a paradigm that allows developers to focus on writing code without the need to manage the underlying infrastructure. Code is executed on-demand, automatically scaled, and billed during its execution time. Function-as-a-Service and cloud function composition, also known as cloud workflows, are among the most popular serverless ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
