Manifolds of even dimension with amenable fundamental group
The main topic of the paper is to investigate the relation between the Euler characteristic and the fundamental group \(\pi\) of a closed 4-manifold \(X\). The paper deals with the question, when \(\chi(X)\geq 0\) resp. \(\chi(X)=0\) holds and when \(X\) is aspherical, i.e. all higher homotopy groups of \(X\) vanish. The main results are: 1. If \(\pi\)

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Metric dimension of star fan graph
Every node in a network is said to be resolved if it can be uniquely identified by a vector of distances to a specific set of nodes. The metric dimension is equivalent to the least possible cardinal number of a resolving set.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Lorentz violating backgrounds from quadratic, shift-symmetric, ultralight dark matter
We consider an effective theory for a shift-symmetric, quadratically-coupled, ultralight spin-0 field. The leading CP conserving interactions with Standard Model fields in the effective theory arise at dimension 8.

The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
