The Fundamental Parameters of Cosmology

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1999
I describe the evidence for the big bang, including the various cosmological parameters. There is general concordance on their values, although the uncertainties remain large enough to justify the ensuing debate. Structure formation is reviewed, and here there is consensus on the hierarchical nature of the sequence of formation.

The Fundamental Parameters of Massive Stars

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
We analyzed far‐UV (FUSE), UV (HST, IUE) and optical spectra of hot massive stars in the Milky Way with non‐LTE, line‐blanketed models with sphericity and expanding winds. We were able to reconcile previously discrepant diagnostics from Hα to highly ionized transitions (e.g.

Analysis of fundamental parameters for V477 Lyr

Astronomy Letters, 2008
We analyze the photometric and spectroscopic observations of the young pre-cataclysmic variable (pre-CV) V477 Lyr. The masses of both binary components have been corrected by analyzing their radial velocity curves. We show that agreement between the theoretical and observed light curves of the object is possible for several sets of its physical ...

Fundamental Parameters of B Supergiants

2006
To understand the chemical evolution of galaxies, we need a deep understanding of the evolution of massive stars and their role in processing and delivering chemical elements. B-type supergiants represent a substantial population in this context. We present here initial results from non-LTE, line-blanketed stellar atmosphere modelling [1] of a large ...

Fundamentals of Robust Parameter Estimation

2017
The research of parameter estimation in different models of real systems resulted in the development of a number of algorithms possessing theoretically optimal properties regarding a chosen criterion.

A Fast Algorithm for Fundamental Parameter Calculations

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1991
AbstractA fundamental parameter algorithm for quantitative XFA with characteristic Kα- and Lα-radiations of the specimens is presented. This allows an application to programmable pocket calculators or a fast evaluation of measured countrates for the unknown composition of the specimen by means of PCs. For the practical utilization we need the incidence

Fundamental Parameters for Seven Be Stars

1998
The fundamental parameters (distance, luminosity, temperature, mass) of seven Be stars were determined from a study combining ultraviolet fluxes, Balmer discontinuity parameters, near-infrared observations, and trigonometric parallaxes measured by the Hipparcos satellite.

Fundamental-Parameters Calculations on a Laboratory Microcomputer

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1979
Fundamental-parameters calculations can be made on a laboratory microcomputer fo r automatic treatment of interelement absorption and enhancement effects in x-ray fluorescence analysis. A new software package, called XRF-11, uses an efficient combination of fundamental parameters and alpha factors to compensate for any lack of measured reference ...

The nature of topological parameters. I. Are topological parameters `fundamental properties'?

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 2003
Topological parameters are often used descriptors in QSAR and QSPR studies. Though easily generated from an appropriate algorithm useful in developing predictive models they are not readily interpretable. Though every molecule has an intrinsic topology it is not clear whether topological parameters are 'fundamental' properties or not.
