Radial Kinematics of Isolated Elliptical Galaxies [PDF]
Ellipticals in very low density environments are extremely rare but hold important clues about galaxy formation and evolution. In this paper we continue our study of isolated elliptical galaxies, presenting results on the radial stellar kinematics for 13 isolated early-type galaxies.

Calibrating the fundamental plane with SDSS DR8 data [PDF]
We present a calibration of the fundamental plane using SDSS Data Release 8. We analysed about 93000 elliptical galaxies up to $z<0.2$, the largest sample used for the calibration of the fundamental plane so far. We incorporated up-to-date K-corrections and used GalaxyZoo data to classify the galaxies in our sample.

Near-Infrared Fundamental Plane of Elliptical Galaxies
Near-infrared (2.2 $ m$) observations of a sample of 48 elliptical galaxies in the Coma cluster have been carried out and used to study the near-ir fundamental plane (FP) of ellipticals in this cluster. An rms scatter of 0.072 dex was found for this relation, similar to that of its optical counterpart, using the same sample of galaxies.

Ultra-Luminous Infrared Mergers: Elliptical Galaxies in Formation? [PDF]
We report high quality near-infrared spectroscopy of 12 ultra-luminous infrared galaxy mergers (ULIRGs). Our new VLT and Keck data provide ~0.5" resolution, stellar and gas kinematics of these galaxies most of which are compact systems in the last merger stages. We confirm that ULIRG mergers are 'ellipticals-in-formation'.

The Physical Origin of the Fundamental Plane (of Elliptical Galaxies)
I review the basic problems posed by the existence of the Fundamental Plane, and discuss its relations with the Virial Theorem (VT). Various possibilities are presented that can produce the observed uniform departure from homology (structural, dynamical) and/or from a constant stellar mass-to-light ratio. The role of orbital anisotropy and its relation

Let us consider an alternative perspective on climate change: The sum of solar radiation and heat generated by human activity result in a net energy input of 1.96 times that of the Sun on the Earth's surface. The expanding global population is expected to exacerbate this issue. Potential solutions are proposed, including replacement and heat recycling.

Analysis of the escape in systems with four exit channels
In this paper, we have performed a numerical investigation of the escape of a particle from two different dynamical systems with the same number of exit channels. We have chosen specific values of the parameters of the systems so that the openings of the potential well in both systems are approximately of the same size.

Possible effects of Hybrid Gravity on stellar kinematics in elliptical galaxies [PDF]
We use the Fundamental Plane of Elliptical Galaxies to constrain the so-called Hybrid Gravity, a modified theory of gravity where General Relativity is improved by further degrees of freedom of metric-affine Palatini formalism of $f(\cal R)$ gravity.

Weak Homology of Bright Elliptical Galaxies [PDF]
Studies of the Fundamental Plane of early-type galaxies, from small to intermediate redshifts, are often carried out under the guiding principle that the Fundamental Plane reflects the existence of an underlying mass-luminosity relation for such galaxies,

The Fundamental Plane of Massive Quiescent Galaxies at z ∼ 2 [PDF]
We examine the Fundamental Plane (FP) and mass-to-light ratio (M/L) scaling relations using the largest sample of massive quiescent galaxies at 1.5 < z < 2.5 to date.
