The Fundamental Plane of Galaxy Group Mergers [PDF]
We present a series of hundreds of collisionless simulations of galaxy group mergers. These simulations are designed to test whether the properties of elliptical galaxies - including the key fundamental plane scaling relation, morphology and kinematics - can be simultaneously reproduced by dry multiple mergers in galaxy groups.

ArtProtect: Blockchain and NFC‐based anti‐counterfeit system for physical art
An anti‐counterfeiting system for physical art based on Ethereum blockchain and near‐field communication technology is proposed and implemented. The system leverages the use of Ethereum smart contracts and inter‐planetary file system to store artworks’ certificate of authenticity, and display them in a mobile app called ArtProtect.

Central Illustration: The role of multimodality imaging for transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions (TTVI): echocardiography is used for the evaluation of the severity and mechanism of tricuspid regurgitation (TR), for the assessment of the pulmonary pressure and right ventricular (RV) function and for anatomical feasibility for transcatheter ...

We have developed and successfully tested new environmental liquid cells for HAXPES studies using specially designed thin, low‐stress silicon nitride membranes (15 to 25 nm thickness). The novel aspect is the fabrication of the membranes considering the geometry of the experimental setup, the dimensions of the beam and the use of platinum stripes to ...

The macroscopical anatomy of the lungs and thorax of the African lion (Panthera leo)
Abstract The left and right lungs extend from the second rib to the 13th, while only a small portion is present cranial to the 4th rib. The basal border of the left lung extends horizontally from the second costochondral junction (CCJ) to just ventral to the seventh CCJ, and then dorso‐caudally to the angle of the 13th rib. The right lung has a similar

Ultra-Luminous Infrared Mergers: Elliptical Galaxies in Formation? [PDF]
We report high quality near-infrared spectroscopy of 12 ultra-luminous infrared galaxy mergers (ULIRGs). Our new VLT and Keck data provide ~0.5" resolution, stellar and gas kinematics of these galaxies most of which are compact systems in the last merger stages. We confirm that ULIRG mergers are 'ellipticals-in-formation'.

Pride of the East: Motorcycle Speedway, Transnational Encounters and Provincial Heartlands
Abstract For a century, speedway has operated on a transnational basis. Its riders, competitions and machinery regularly traverse national and continental borders. The imposition of the Cold War's Iron Curtain did little to impede its growth. This article focuses on one of speedway's far‐flung and diverse provincial heartlands to show how the sport ...

Leaf Shelters Facilitate the Colonisation of Arthropods and Enhance Microbial Diversity on Plants
This research demonstrates that ecosystem engineers, through the construction of leaf shelters, play a critical role in shaping not only arthropod community assembly but also the dynamics of the phyllosphere microbial community. We identified specific bacterial taxa with strong associations with leaf shelters, revealing a shift in microbial community ...

Abstract Actinic keratosis (AK) classification relies on clinical characteristics limited to the skin's surface. Incorporating sub‐surface evaluation may improve the link between clinical classification and the underlying pathology. We aimed to apply dynamic optical coherence tomography (D‐OCT) to characterize microvessels in AK I‐III and photodamaged (
