Macroscopic Black Holes, Microscopic Black Holes and Noncommutative Membrane

open access: yes, 2003
We study the stretched membrane of a black hole as consisting of a perfect fluid. We find that the pressure of this fluid is negative and the specific heat is negative too.

Formal comparison of SUSY in the nuclear U(6/2) model and in quantum field theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A nuclear physics example of the U(6/2) supersymmetry group is considered. It is shown that this group contains a supersymmetric subgroup with a structure similar to the SUSY model of the quantum field theory (QFT).

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Relation between fundamental estimation limit and stability in linear quantum systems with imperfect measurement

open access: yes, 2007
From the noncommutative nature of quantum mechanics, estimation of canonical observables $\hat{q}$ and $\hat{p}$ is essentially restricted in its performance by the Heisenberg uncertainty relation, $\mean{\Delta \hat{q}^2}\mean{\Delta \hat{p}^2}\geq ...

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

occumb: An R package for site occupancy modeling of eDNA metabarcoding data

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new R package, occumb, for the convenient application of site occupancy modeling using environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding data. We outline a data analysis workflow, including data setup, model fitting, model assessment, and comparison of potential study settings based on model predictions, all of which can be performed using

A Brief Survey on the two Different Approaches of Fundamental Equivalence Relations on Hyperstructures

open access: yesRatio Mathematica, 2017
Fundamental structures are the main tools in the study of hyperstructures. Fundamental equivalence relations link hyperstructure theory to the  theory of corresponding classical structures. They also introduce new hyperstructure classes. The present paper

Production and Perception of Mandarin Laryngeal Contrast: The Role of Post-plosive F0

open access: yesFrontiers in Communication, 2022
This study examines the relation between plosive aspiration and post-plosive f0 (fundamental frequency) in the production and perception of the laryngeal contrast in Mandarin.

Between Droughts and Floods: The Seasonal Response of Freshwater Snails in Artificial Reservoirs in the Brazilian Semiarid Region

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We investigate the seasonal dynamics of two freshwater snails, Biomphalaria straminea and Melanoides tuberculata, in artificial reservoirs of the Brazilian semiarid region. Despite regulated hydrology, B. straminea exhibited strong seasonal fluctuations associated with dry periods, while M. tuberculata maintained stable populations throughout the year,

Lectures on Klein surfaces and their fundamental group

open access: yes, 2015
The goal of these lectures is to give an introduction to the study of the fundamental group of a Klein surface. We start by reviewing the topological classification of Klein surfaces and by explaining the relation with real algebraic curves.
