Fungal endophytes of grasses

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2012
Epichloae endophytes form mutualistic symbiotic associations with temperate grasses and confer on the host a number of bioprotective benefits through production of fungal secondary metabolites and changed host metabolism. Maintenance of this mutualistic interaction requires that growth of the endophyte within the host is restricted.

Hierarchical metacommunity structure of fungal endophytes

New Phytologist, 2023
Summary The ecological and evolutionary processes shaping community structure and functions of microbial symbionts are known to be scale‐dependent. Nonetheless, understanding how the relative importance of these processes changes across spatial scales, and deciphering the hierarchical metacommunity structure of fungal endophytes has proven challenging.
