Systematic Review: The Relationship Between the Faecal Microbiome and Colorectal Neoplasia in Shotgun Metagenomic Studies

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
26 studies were identified, reporting on 22 populations. Size ranged from 14 to 971 individuals (mean 170). Some reproducible data were identified; F. nucleatum and P. micra were significantly enriched in colorectal neoplasia compared to controls in 10 and 9 studies respectively. However, evidence quality was poor, limiting the comparability of studies.

The physiological and pathological effects of sphingolipid metabolism and signaling in the central nervous system

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Sphingolipids are vital components of cell membranes. Metabolic disruptions of sphingolipids, including ceramide and sphingosine‐1‐phosphate, are linked to neurological disorders. This article summarizes the classification, structure, and metabolic processes of sphingolipids, and the physiological and pathological effects of sphingolipid metabolism and
