First Report of Endophytic Fungi, Aequabiliella effusa, Isolated from Twigs of Larix gmelinii var. olgensis in Korea

open access: yes한국균학회지
We isolated endophytic fungal strains from twigs of Larix gmelinii var. olgensis. These strains were identified based on their morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses including internal transcribed spacers and large subunit rDNA.

The predatory behavior of ants: an impressive panoply of morphological adaptations

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This review focuses on predation in ants, showing the wide diversity of cases from solitary foraging to group hunting tactics, as well as the evolution of mandible shape frequently adapted to capture specific prey. Although most ants are generalist feeders, finding their sugary substances directly on plants or indirectly via sap‐sucking insects, some ...

Metabarcoding-based fungal diversity on coarse and fine particulate organic matter in a first-order stream in Nova Scotia, Canada [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2015
Most streams receive substantial inputs of allochthonous organic material in the form of leaves and twigs (CPOM, coarse particulate organic matter). Mechanical and biological processing converts this into fine particulate organic matter (FPOM).

Comparison between standard and drift reducing nozzles for pesticide application in citrus: Part II. Effects on canopy spray distribution, control efficacy of Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), beneficial parasitoids and pesticide residues on fruit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Venturi nozzles are often recommended to reduce drift, which is one of the major pollution sources caused by the application of plant protection products on high growing crops. The coarse droplets produced by this type of nozzle could however also affect

“Alien versus predator”: predatory effect of coccinellid Exochomus quadripustulatus on the scale insect Toumeyella parvicornis. An open‐field experimentation on the Pinus pinea of Rome

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The release of gravid Exochomus quadripustulatus females proved to be effective in containing Toumeyella parvicornis infestations on stone pine trees, under open‐field condition. The ladybugs caused a lower infestation level compared to the trees that did not receive any ladybugs during the observation season.

Mechanisms of Gui Zhi Fu Ling Formula in Liver Fibrosis: Metabolomics and Gut Microbiota Analysis

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Our study was based on the efficacy of the phenotype in an animal model and used multi‐omics to explore the mechanism of action of the compound. We found that Gui Zhi Fu Ling Formula may ameliorate hepatic fibrosis potentially associated with increased hepatic EPA and the expression of gut Pseudomonas.
