Cyathus nisiaensis (Nidulariaceae, Basidiomycota), a New Species From the Atlantic Forest Biome in Northeastern Brazil

Cyathus Haller is a genus of fungi belonging to the family Nidulariaceae within the phylum Basidiomycota. Considering the need to preserve biomes, especially the Atlantic Forest, this study aims to propose a new species within Cyathus collected in the conservation unit, Floresta Nacional de Nísia Floresta, Brazil.

The Brazilian Northeast shelters fragments of the Atlantic Forest that, although historically under‐sampled, are home to a high diversity of organisms. In this context, conidial fungi are crucial for ecological balance, standing out for their role in the decomposition of organic matter and nutrient cycling.

Colonization of maize seeds by two species of Stenocarpella transformed with fluorescent proteins and assessed through scanning electron microscopy
