Diseases of the Chest, 1967From our experience with 200 operations, we postulate that indication for surgery exists only in medium and severe cases. The optimal age of correction is between the 5th and 15th years of life. If cardiac and pulmonary symptoms become manifest in the 2nd and 3rd decades of life, correction is also indicated to abolish these disturbances.
