Gas‐phase basicity of 2‐furaldehyde

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2012
2‐Furaldehyde (2‐FA), also known as furfural or 2‐furancarboxaldehyde, is an heterocyclic aldehyde that can be obtained from the thermal dehydration of pentose monosaccharides. This molecule can be considered as an important sustainable intermediate for the preparation of a great variety of chemicals, pharmaceuticals and furan‐based polymers.

HPLC determination of 2-furaldehyde and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde in alcoholic beverages

Microchemical Journal, 2006
Abstract A method for the determination of 2-furaldehyde (F) and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) in alcoholic beverages by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is described. A C-18 column and an acetonitrile–water mobile phase with isocratic elution were used. UV detection at 280 nm was carried out.

Liquid chromatographic determination of 2-furaldehyde and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde in beer

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1995
Abstract A method for the determination of 2-furaldehyde (F) and 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde (HMF) in beer by liquid chromatography (LC) is described. The method is based on the formation of the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones of carbonyl compounds and subsequent reversed-phase separation of these derivatives. Derivatization is carried out by utilizing

Vibrational spectra of 2-furaldehyde

Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 1973
Abstract The infrared spectra of 2-furaldehyde and its deutero analog were measured in the gaseous and liquid states and in solutions. The band contours of the spectra of the gaseous phase were discussed. Normal coordinate calculations were carried out and related to the band assignment.
