Double‐bundle posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction procedure leads to better restoration of posterior knee laxity in isolated and multiple ligament knee injuries than single‐bundle procedure

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Purpose The purpose of the study was to determine whether the knee stability is better with single‐bundle (SB) or double‐bundle (DB) posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction. The hypothesis was that DB PCL reconstruction in isolated and multiple ligament knee injuries may be significantly better in the posterior laxity than SB ...

Changes in sediment discharge over the 20th century from a mountain catchment that has experienced severe anthropogenic disturbances

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 4, 30 March 2025.
The Shirasaka Experimental Watershed was established in a severely degraded area, and records of repeated dredging volumes from a weir pond provided the long‐term sediment discharge record from 1929 to 2022. Sediment yields gradually decreased from about 1,000 m3/km2/y to 100 m3/km2/y, demonstrating the long‐lasting effect of human disturbance ...

Highly efficient mechanochemical depolymerisation of bio-based polyethylene furanoate and polybutylene furanoate

open access: yesRSC Sustainability
We present a mechanochemical protocol for the efficient depolymerisation of bio-based poly(ethylene furanoate) (PEF) and poly(butylene furanoate) (PBF) as alternatives to commodity plastics such as poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET).

Utilising LiDAR‐equipped iPhone in forestry: Constructing 3D models and measuring tree sizes in a planting site

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 6, Issue 1, January–March 2025.
The LiDAR‐equipped iPhone (iPhone‐LiDAR) offers a portable and cost‐effective alternative for small‐scale forest measurements. In this study, iPhone‐LiDAR was used for terrain mapping and tree height measurement in northern Japan, generating accurate 3D models.

Oak Wilt Disease May Reduce the Initial Decay Rate of Dead Quercus serrata Stems by Altering Fungal Communities in the Wood

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 1, January 2025.
To evaluate the effects of oak wilt on wood decomposition, the fungal community and wood decay were monitored for 1.5 years across three forests in Japan. Oak wilt significantly altered the fungal community in the wood and may negatively impact decomposition, particularly during the early stages.

A Computational Approach to Repurposing Natural Products for DprE1 Inhibition

open access: yesScientifica, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This study aimed to investigate the potential of natural products (NPs) as inhibitors of decaprenylphosphoryl‐D‐ribose 2′‐epimerase (DprE1), an enzyme crucial in Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall synthesis. Over 100 NPs were screened for anti‐TB properties.
