Thermal control of coke furnace by data-driven approach

open access: yesDigital Chemical Engineering, 2022
To achieve efficient and stable coke furnace operation, we developed an operation guidance system to reduce the variance of net coking time (NCT). A control algorithm that predicts the future NCT by locally weighted regression using the individual ...

Features of modelling dynamics for heating processes of cylindrical cast iron products in gas ovens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The process of heating the billets of rolling mills from cast iron in gas heating ovens (both in covalent and casting floors) has clear requirements for temperature heating regimes. Compliance with the requirements of technology is possible

Experimental and Computational Studies of a Prototype Combustion Chamber for a Power Steam Boiler with a Vertical Precessing Vortex [PDF]

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics
Increasing the efficiency of using fossil fuels at thermal power plants is an urgent task. This problem arises most acutely during the operation of pulverized coal power boilers using flare fuel combustion technologies.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Research on the Arrangement Scheme of Spirally Twisted Tape Inserts in a Grate Furnace

open access: yesEnergies
To eliminate the flow dead zone and homogenize the asymmetric flow field of a grate furnace, spirally twisted tape inserts (STTIs) with a pitch ratio of 1.5 were installed in the vertical flues of an SCL1000-13.5/450 grate boiler. The arrangement schemes

Computer monitoring and optimization of the steam boiler performance

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2017
The paper presents a method for determination of thermo-flow parameters for steam boilers. This method allows to perform the calculations of the boiler furnace chamber and heat flow rates absorbed by superheater stages. These parameters are important for

Brick-Burning Kiln from the Zhaiyk Fortified Site

open access: yesПоволжская археология, 2013
The article contains a description of the brick-burning kiln, which was discovered during the 2012 excavations on the medieval Zhaiyk fortified site (Western Kazakhstan oblast). A similar object had been discovered on the site in 2002.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
