KSTAR ECH System Development Progress [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The KSTAR ECH system has been upgraded to ensure steady-state advanced operation of KSTAR. The planned ECHs include a total of six 1 MW, 300 s ECH systems, of which four 105/140 GHz dual frequency systems have been commissioned and are being used in ...

Comparison between measurement and calculations for a 14 MeV neutron water activation experiment [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
The nuclear heat loads due to gamma rays emitted from the decay of 16N and delayed neutrons from17N, generated by the activation of water in cooling circuits, are critical for ITER design. The assessment of nuclear heating from activated water is complex;

Overview of recent turbulence studies across multiple confinement modes at the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak using the Correlation Electron Cyclotron Emission diagnostic [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
This work presents an overview of recent and ongoing experimental measurements of core and edge turbulence across multiple confinement regimes using the Correlation Electron Cyclotron Emission (CECE) diagnostic at the ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) tokamak.

Development of high-performance long-pulse discharge in KSTAR

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
High-performance long-pulse plasma operation is essential for producing economically viable fusion energy in tokamak devices. To achieve such discharges in KSTAR, firstly, the rapid increase in the temperature of plasma-facing components was mitigated ...

Development of a Millimeter-Wave Beam Position and Profile Monitor for Transmission Efficiency Improvement in an ECRH System

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
In a high power Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) system, a long-distance and low-loss transmission system is required to realize effective heating of nuclear fusion-relevant plasmas.

An assessment of the evaporation and condensation phenomena of lithium during the operation of a Li(d,xn) fusion relevant neutron source

open access: yesHeliyon, 2016
The flowing lithium target of a Li(d,xn) fusion relevant neutron source must evacuate the deuteron beam power and generate in a stable manner a flux of neutrons with a broad peak at 14 MeV capable to cause similar phenomena as would undergo the ...

Direct measurement of refracted trajectory of transmitting electron cyclotron beam through plasma on the Large Helical Device

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The electron-cyclotron (EC) -beam refraction due to the presence of plasma was investigated in the Large Helical Device. The transmitted-EC-beam measurement system was constructed and the beam pattern on the opposite side of the irradiated surface was ...

D-Fusion: A Distinctive Fusion Calculus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We study the relative expressive power of Fusion and pi-calculus. Fusion is commonly regarded as a generalisation of pi-calculus. Actually, we prove that there is no uniform fully abstract embedding of pi-calculus into Fusion. This fact motivates the introduction of a new calculus, D-Fusion, with two binders, λ and ν.

Thermographic studies of outer target heat fluxes on KSTAR

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2017
A new infra-red (IR) thermography system with high spatial resolution has been installed on KSTAR and is now mainly applied to measure the outer divertor heat load profile.

Realising fusion systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We show that every fusion system (saturated or not) on a p-group S is equal to the fusion system associated to a discrete group G containing S as a subgroup and such that every finite subgroup of G is conjugate to a subgroup of ...
