The path to fusion power. [PDF]
The promise, status and challenges of developing fusion power are outlined. The key physics and engineering principles are described and recent progress quantified. As the successful demonstration of 16 MW of fusion in 1997 in the Joint European Torus showed, fusion works.

FUSION POWER AND THE ENVIRONMENT [PDF]
Environmental characteristics of conceptual fusion-reactor systems based on magnetic confinement are examined quantitatively, and some comparisons with fission systems are made. Fusion, like all other energy sources, will not be completely free of environmental liabilities, but the most obvious of these-- tritium leakage and activation of structural ...

On the size of tokamak fusion power plants. [PDF]
Figures of merit for future tokamak fusion power plants (FPPs) are presented. It is argued that extrapolation from present-day experiments to proposed FPPs must follow a consistent development path, demonstrating the largest required leaps in intermediate devices to allow safe extrapolation to an FPP.

Concept of calorimetry system for ITER [PDF]
The ITER tokamak is expected to produce up to 500 MW of fusion power. Other energy inputs will contribute up to 100 MW. All of this power ultimately converts to heat and the Tokamak Cooling Water System (TCWS) will remove most of it.

The Optimum Conditions for Arc Fusion to Splice Photonic Crystal Fiber and Single Mode Optical Fiber [PDF]
This search deals with the empirically obtained conditions for the fusion splicing with photonic crystal fibers (ESM-12) and (SMF-28) by controlling the arc-power and the arc-time of conventional electric-arc fusion splicer (FSM-60S).
