On the possibility of reducing the size of a fusion reactor by increasing the plasma density

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A zero-dimensional analysis based on available scaling laws for the global energy confinement time of tokamak plasmas is presented, in order to consistently compute the fusion power as a function of the plasma density and of the plasma size.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
