Assessment of Startup Inventory and Required Tritium Breeding Ratio for Fusion Reactor Based on Integrated Analytical Scheme

open access: yesHe huaxue yu fangshe huaxue
The development of Tokamak fusion reactors encompasses hybrid and pure fusion reactor designs. In the study of tritium self-sustainability, the average retention time method is predominantly employed for Tokamak fusion reactors, with less emphasis on ...

Fusion Plasma Research toward Fusion Power Plants

open access: yesJournal of Plasma and Fusion Research, 2005
This section discusses fusion plasma research that needs to be carried out to develop fusion power plants. Burning plasma, in which self-heating by energetic alph aparticles plays an essential role, should be recognized as autonomous system. This is quite different from present plasma experiments, suggesting a possibility to yield some qualitative ...

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Plasma Power Density Produced by D-T Fusion Reaction

open access: yesIbn Al-Haitham Journal for Pure and Applied Sciences, 2017
Calculation of the power density of the nuclear fusion reactions plays an important role in the   construction of any power plants. It is clear that the power released by fusion reaction strongly depended on the fusion cross section and fusion ...

A case for gross electricity producing compact fusion pilot plants

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
A case for compact gross electricity producing pilot plant is presented. The feasibility of such a plant with a moderate fusion power that is capable of delivering gross electricity to the grid is investigated.

Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐
