Fractional-Order PIλDμ Controller Using Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Model for Course Control of Underactuated Ships

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
For the uncertainty caused by the time-varying modeling parameters with the sailing speed in the course control of underactuated ships, a novel identification method based on an adaptive neural fuzzy model (ANFM) is proposed to approximate the inverse ...

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

On-line identification of MIMO evolving Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Evolving Takagi-Sugeno (eTS) fuzzy models and the method for their on-line identification has been recently introduced as an effective tool for design of flexible system models with minimum a priori information.
