Review of artificial intelligence applications in geothermal energy extraction from hot dry rock

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper systematically summarized the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in hot dry rock (HDR) geothermal exploitation and discussed the limitations and opportunities. A novel intelligent HDR exploitation system was proposed to promote the development of HDR toward more efficiency, economy, and intelligence.

A review on rockburst prediction and prevention to shape an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making for underground excavations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A scientometric analysis of 2449 journal articles and a comprehensive review of 336 papers were conducted, discussing and identifying challenges and research gaps in rockburst prediction and prevention and proposing an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making in underground excavations. Abstract With underground engineering projects becoming

Global phylogenetic and functional structure of rodent assemblages

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Exploring the global patterns of phylogenetic and functional structure of assemblages is key to describe the distribution of biodiversity on Earth and to predict how communities and ecosystem functioning may be affected by anthropogenic pressures. Rodent communities have been studied in this regard in the past, but previous work largely focused on ...

Distributed traffic signal control using fuzzy logic [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a distributed approach to traffic signal control, where the signal timing parameters at a given intersection are adjusted as functions of the local traffic condition and of the signal timing parameters at adjacent intersections.

Quantitative Evaluation of Sand Body Connectivity Based on the Support Vector Machine Algorithm: A Case Study of the Putaohua Oil Reservoir in the Daqing Oil Field, Songliao Basin, China

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A support vector machine (SVM) algorithm was applied to quantitatively predict the connectivity of the sand bodies. Verification using dynamic and static data demonstrated that the prediction accuracy of the algorithm reached 88%. The quantitative sand body connectivity results were used to establish a single sand body model.

A stepwise process for actionable environmental science research

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Scholars have long recognized the social dimensions of environmental problems. Environmental scientists have responded by increasingly focusing on the interactions between nature and social dynamics. This helps reveal problematic interactions that cause environmental challenges, many of which impact human well‐being.

CO2 Storage Site Selection: A Comprehensive Review of Current Approaches

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global warming, driven by increasing anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions, has emerged as a critical environmental concern. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology offers a promising solution for reducing CO2 emissions, but its effectiveness depends on identifying suitable candidates that can ensure safe, long‐term storage of CO2.

More Than a Personal Decision: A Relational Theory of Quiet Quitting

open access: yesHuman Resource Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quiet quitting first exploded in social media and has gained considerable traction in media, practitioner, and scholarly outlets. While much of this attention has been focused on why employees quiet quit, there has been less consideration about how it is perceived by their coworkers.

Communicating tokenomics and monetary policy: A comparative analysis of real and virtual economies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This article investigates the economic governance of blockchain‐based virtual economies in the context of monetary policy. Focusing on tokenomics communication, we employ deductive and inductive approaches, applying real‐world monetary policy metrics and text mining frameworks. Our comparative analysis reveals that the tokenomics communication
