Optimal Lithium‐Ion Battery—Supercapacitor Energy Storage System Capacity for Off‐Grid Intermittent Renewable Energy Mini‐Grids

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Deployment of an aging‐based controller during designing of optimal lithium‐ion battery—supercapacitor (LB‐Sc) hybrid energy storage system (HESS) capacity, in off‐grid IREMGs, improves performance of the LB and reduces its aging rate. Also, annualised cost of the LB‐Sc HESS improves by 33.15% in relation to optimal LB SESS.
