An alternative evaluation of FMEA: Fuzzy ART algorithm
Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2008AbstractFailure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a technique used in the manufacturing industry to improve production quality and productivity. It is a method that evaluates possible failures in the system, design, process or service. It aims to continuously improve and decrease these kinds of failure modes. Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) is one of

Improving fuzzy FMEA model for student projects
2017 Joint 17th World Congress of International Fuzzy Systems Association and 9th International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems (IFSA-SCIS), 2017In project-based learning, student projects benefit when they include the analysis and assessment of risk. However, students lack experience in risk assessment, which limits their ability to carry out this aspect of the work. In practice, the instructor often advises students to assess the risks because this would be a key feature of a professional ...

Fuzzy assessment of FMEA for engine systems
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2002Abstract When performing failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for quality assurance and reliability improvement, interdependencies among various failure modes with uncertain and imprecise information are very difficult to be incorporated for failure analysis. Consequently, the validity of the results may be questionable.

Application of Fuzzy Inference Techniques to FMEA
2006In traditional Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), the Risk Priority Number (RPN) ranking system is used to evaluate the risk level of failures, to rank failures, and to prioritize actions. This approach is simple but it suffers from several weaknesses.

A New Ranking Method For Fuzzy FMEA
2004In this paper, we extend the method introduced by Bowles and Pelaez (1995) for the risk ranking in Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). This method called as multi-ranking method allows combination of both the quantitative method (numeric ranking and fuzzy number) and the qualitative method (linguistic ranking) to be employed in the ranking of risk.

Using fuzzy FMEA and fuzzy logic in project risk management
2015Risk management is one of the most important phases of project management and isthe most recently used by many researchers. In this paper, a fuzzy based method wasproposed which identifies different kinds of risks through the project life cycle. Then, the project risk magnitude can be obtained in regards to five factors, namely“severity”, “occurrence ...
