Enhancing Rail Transit Safety: Edge Computing‐Based Driver State Monitoring System

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This article presents an edge computing‐based driver state monitoring system designed to enhance rail transit safety by analyzing real‐time data on driver identity, posture, and behavior. Leveraging facial recognition and AI‐driven detection methods, the system integrates edge and cloud computing to promptly identify unsafe conditions, enabling ...

Time Tools

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, Volume 18, Issue 1, Page 147-168, January 2026.
Abstract Many core human activities require an understanding of time. To coordinate rituals, plan harvests and hunts, recall histories, keep appointments, and follow recipes, we need to grapple with invisible temporal structures like durations, sequences, and cycles. No other species seems to do this.

A Highly Robust Measurement Method for Cable Force Identification Based on Eliminating Camera Motion

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
When testing cable forces on outdoor physical bridges based on vision‐based techniques, the camera experiences irregular motion due to bridge vibrations and natural environmental interference. To address this issue, this study proposes a testing method that eliminates camera shake and poorer tracking resolution by combining reference points and moving ...

Machine Vision and Canny Edge Detector–Based Printing Image Detection and Recognition Model

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Traditional image detection and recognition models face issues such as high miss detection rates, low classification accuracy, and poor real‐time performance when dealing with complex printing images, including defects and flaws. To address these problems, this study proposes a printing image detection and recognition model based on machine vision ...

Challenges in Partially-Automated Roadway Feature Mapping Using Mobile Laser Scanning and Vehicle Trajectory Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Connected vehicle and driver's assistance applications are greatly facilitated by Enhanced Digital Maps (EDMs) that represent roadway features (e.g., lane edges or centerlines, stop bars).

Hierarchical nondestructive detection of full‐scene suspended ceiling systems using point cloud

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 29, Page 5380-5395, 9 December 2025.
Abstract Suspended ceiling (SC) systems constitute a critical nonstructural building component. Excessive deformation of the ceiling surface can cause life‐threatening falling debris during earthquakes and create voids that may expose occupants to hazardous materials concealed above the ceiling.

Fuzzy Hough Transform without Deletion of Detected Line Data

open access: yesThe Journal of the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers, 2005
In conventional fuzzy Hough transforms, lines are detected using a sequential iteration method that deletes data points on the detected lines. Detecting another line intersecting the detected lines is difficullt because some data points have been deleted in the previous process.
