Fuzzy Ontology and Information Granulation: An Approach to Knowledge Mobilisation
2010In order to find a common conceptual framework to address the problems of representation and management of imprecise and vague knowledge in a semantic web we have analysed the role played by information granulation in human cognition. Fuzzy granulation underlies the basic concepts of linguistic variable and fuzzy if-then rules, which play a major role ...

Fuzzy Information Granulation Based Decision Support Applications
2008 International Symposiums on Information Processing, 2008Due to the learning problem on skewed distribution datasets, which tend to produce high accuracy over the majority class but poor predictive accuracy over the minority class by traditional machine learning algorithms, fuzzy information granulation based knowledge discovery and decision support model called FIG mode is proposed in this paper to improve ...

Information Granule Based Uncertainty Measure of Fuzzy Evidential Distribution
IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, 2023Quantifying the uncertainty of information distributions containing randomness, imprecision, and fuzziness is the premise of processing them. A useful information representation in the field of intelligent computing are information granules, which optimize data from the perspective of specificity and coverage.

Complementary Image Compression Based on the Theory of Fuzzy Information Granulation
2005 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, 2006In this paper, we improve the image compression method based on the theory of fuzzy information granulation (TFIG). Granulation structure of image is introduced, and the basic principle of complementary image compression based on TFIG is investigated. A new compression method is proposed based on such granulation structure.

Fuzzy Rule-Based Classification with Hypersphere Information Granules
2019Fuzzy rule-based classification has been studied by a number of classification architectures. In this study, hypersphere information granules are used to form initial fuzzy classification model in an intuitive and interpretative way. The principle of justifiable granularity offers a certain way to optimizing information granules while facing the ...

Time-series clustering based on linear fuzzy information granules
Applied Soft Computing, 2018Abstract In this paper, time-series clustering is discussed. At first l 1 trend filtering method is used to produce an optimal segmentation of time series. Next optimized fuzzy information granulation is completed for each segment to form a linear fuzzy information granule, which includes both average and trend information.

Interpretability of Fuzzy Information Granules
2009Human-Centric Information Processing requires tight communication processes between users and computers. These two actors, however, traditionally use different paradigms for representing and manipulating information. Users are more inclined in managing perceptual information, usually expressed in natural language, whilst computers are formidable number-

Evolutionary Design of Fuzzy Classifiers Using Information Granules
2005A new GA-based methodology using information granules is suggested for the construction of fuzzy classifiers. The proposed scheme consists of three steps: selection of information granules, construction of the associated fuzzy sets, and tuning of the fuzzy rules.
