The fuzzy logic of visuomotor control [PDF]

open access: possibleCanadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1996
Biological sensorimotor control is characterized by the use of signals from large numbers of sensors, monitoring numerous variables. Among these are the exteroceptive signals from the eyes and ears. Many of the sensory signals are under efferent control, and the motor responses they evoke, whether at a simple reflex level or routed through the higher ...

A fuzzy logic controller

Journal of Biotechnology, 1992
This paper describes a fuzzy sets method which is very useful for handling uncertainties and essential for knowledge acquisition of a human expert. Kinetics of a reactor is often complex and not trivial to describe by mathematical equations. Reactor control by traditional control technology is therefore difficult. A novel technology is presented.

Fuzzy logic in control systems: fuzzy logic controller. I

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 1990
For pt.I see ibid., vol.20, no.2, p.404-18, 1990. The basic aspects of the FLC (fuzzy logic controller) decision-making logic are examined. Several issues, including the definitions of a fuzzy implication, compositional operators, the interpretations of the sentence connectives 'and' and 'also', and fuzzy inference mechanisms, are investigated ...

A design for a fuzzy logic controller

Information Sciences, 1988
[For the entire collection see Zbl 0648.00013.] The paper deals with the problem of designing a control algorithm realized on the basis of a set of linguistic control rules. The rules express relationships between variables \(x_1,x_2,\ldots,x_ p\) of the system under control and an appropriate control action \(y\), say \[ \begin{aligned} \text{---if ...

Towards a logic for a fuzzy logic controller [PDF]

open access: possible, 1991
Fuzzy control is based on fuzzy logic [3], and the core of a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is a set of fuzzy conditional statements related by the dual notions of fuzzy implication and the so-called compositional rule of inference[2]. However, despite of the use of the logic-related concepts of fuzzy conditional statements, fuzzy implication, and the ...

Fuzzy logic control

Microelectronics Journal, 1995
Fuzzy logic is increasingly being incorporated in systems to provide robust and effective control in a wide range of applications. The method is based on a many-valued logic which enables general principles and expert knowledge to be used to provide control rules and procedures.

Fuzzy logic control

2000
The fuzzy set notion enables us to define the progressive membership of an element to a class, that is to say it belongs to this class more or less strongly. The membership of an object in a class defines a degree of membership given between 0 and 1.

A Fuzzy Tuner for Fuzzy Logic Controllers

1992 American Control Conference, 1992
A two-level fuzzy tuning scheme is presented in this paper. The fuzzy tuner in the upper level is used to design the membership functions of the fuzzy logic controller in the lower level. The scheme provides an effective means for obtaining a good performance of the controller in a short time with a low computational burden.

SELECTION OF PARAMETERS FOR A FUZZY LOGIC CONTROLLER

Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 1979
Abstract The fuzzy logic controller is reviewed and its parameter are explicitly identified. The problem of initial selection and subsequent adjustment of the parameters are discussed in detail by example.
