A New Class of Uninorm Aggregation Operations for Fuzzy Theory
2019Uninorms play a prominent role both in the theory and applications of Aggregations, Fuzzy Theory, and of Mathematical Fuzzy Logic. In this paper the class of group-like uninorms is introduced. First, two variants of a construction method – called partial-lexicographic product – will be recalled; it constructs a large subclass of group-like FL\(_e ...

Applications of fuzzy set theory in reservoir operations
2009Attempts to maximize benefits from hydroelectric reservoirs with mathematical models have been a focus of study for water resource specialists. As increasingly complex models are developed to more closely imitate reality, their usefulness may paradoxically diminish since reservoir operators are less apt to fully understand the models. This results in a

Flood Control Operations Based on the Theory of Variable Fuzzy Sets
Water Resources Management, 2011Flood control decisions are often involved with quantitative and qualitative criteria. In this paper, a decision model is presented for flood control operations based on the theory of variable fuzzy sets. Using dual comparison, two models computing relative membership grades with qualitative and quantitative criteria are established, respectively.

Fuzzy counterparts of partial hull operators in the theory of L-convex systems
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy SystemsIn this paper, we provide some new characterizations of L-convex systems. For this purpose, we first introduce the concept of partial hull operators and establish the categorical relationship between partial hull operators and convex systems. Then we abstract the relationship between a subset and its partially convex hull in convex system to a binary ...

An electronic video camera image stabilizer operated on fuzzy theory
[1992 Proceedings] IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2003An electronic video camera image stabilizer was developed. It eliminates a substantial part of the image instability caused by the involuntary movement of camera holders. The discrimination between image movement caused by unstable hand-holding and that of moving objects becomes possible by developing the following process: (1) dividing the image taken

Arithmetic operations of trapezoidal fuzzy variable using credibility theory
International Journal of Business Forecasting and Marketing Intelligence, 2017In this paper, we have developed an alternative method of finding the fuzzy membership function which leads the functions of trapezoidal fuzzy variables. Here we have used the concept of credibility theory to find out an alternative method of computing different type arithmetic operations of trapezoidal fuzzy variables. This method also lead us to find

POWERSET OPERATOR FOUNDATIONS FOR CATALG FUZZY SET THEORIES
2011The paper sets forth in detail categorically-algebraic or catalg foundations for the operations of taking the image and preimage of (fuzzy) sets called forward and backward powerset operators. Motivated by an open question of S. E. Rodabaugh, we construct a monad on the category of sets, the algebras of which generate the fixed-basis forward powerset ...

Philosophy of Science, Operations Research, and Fuzzy Set Theory – Personal Observations
2013Since the following are personal observations, it might be appropriate to tell the reader some relevant facts of my background. They have shaped my views, which otherwise might seem strange to some colleagues in other disciplines:
