Simple Measures of Individual Cluster-Membership Certainty for Hard Partitional Clustering

open access: yes, 2018
We propose two probability-like measures of individual cluster-membership certainty which can be applied to a hard partition of the sample such as that obtained from the Partitioning Around Medoids (PAM) algorithm, hierarchical clustering or k-means ...

The Driving Factors and Improvement Paths of CTI Integration: Based on the Spatial Dubin Model and fsQCA Method

open access: yesSAGE Open
Although previous studies have explored the factors influencing cultural and tourism industry (CTI) integration, few have investigated them from a spatial and configuration perspective.

PAIR: Reconstructing Single‐Cell Open‐Chromatin Landscapes for Transcription Factor Regulome Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
scATAC‐seq analysis is often constrained by limited sequencing depth, extreme sparsity, and pervasive technical missingness. PAIR is a probabilistic framework that restores scATAC‐seq accessibility profiles by directly modeling the native cell–peak bipartite structure of chromatin accessibility.

Deep Volumetric Super‐Resolution Imaging in Thick Biological Specimens With Sparse Scanning SIM

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sparse scanning structured illumination microscopy (SS‐SIM) extends the axial depth in super‐resolution fluorescence imaging by combining rapid laser scanning, pixel‐addressed intensity modulation, and sCMOS camera detection. SS‐SIM yields 1.6× lateral and 1.7× axial resolution gains over wide‐field microscopy and enables imaging through 300–600 µm ...

A multidimensional approach to the measurement of poverty [PDF]

open access: yes
By using fuzzy set theory a cross country multidimensional analysis of poverty is performed on the basis of ECHP data. A set of composite indicators is contructed in order to analyse different dimensions of poverty.

What drives corporate water disclosure? The role of board composition in Brazil and India

open access: yesSustainable Environment
We aimed to examine the effect of board composition on corporate water performance. Our study was exploratory and had a quantitative approach, which used secondary data from the Refinitiv Eikon database. 668 Brazilian and Indian publicly traded companies

Distinct Biotypes of Visual Perception in Major Depressive Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a discover dataset (272 acute MDD patients), this work identifies a novel depression biotype characterized by impaired visual motion perception, using machine learning clustering. An independent dataset confirms the robustness of this biotype through cross‐validation and demonstrates its generalizability.

Prioritization of COVID-19 Patients for Admission in the Intensive Care Unit in the Context of Hospital Bed Shortages: An Integrated Multi-criteria Decision Making Approach

open access: yesRāhburdhā-yi Mudīriyyat dar Niẓām-i Salāmat, 2022
Background: When an epidemic occurs, resources, including hospital beds, are severely limited and not all patients can be treated; so, hospital bed rationing is inevitable.

Molecularly Bridged Heterointerface Engineering: Designing Transparent, Wear‐Resistant, Hard yet Flexible Optoelectronic Protective Film

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A molecular‐bridging heterogeneous interface engineering strategy is introduced to combine a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)‐based hard coating with a colorless polyimide (CPI)‐based flexible layer. The robust heterogeneous interface endows the integrated system with the superior properties of both layers and their synergistic ...

On the role of pre and post-processing in environmental data mining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The quality of discovered knowledge is highly depending on data quality. Unfortunately real data use to contain noise, uncertainty, errors, redundancies or even irrelevant information.
