Supervised fuzzy partitioning [PDF]

open access: yesPattern Recognition, 2020
Centroid-based methods including k-means and fuzzy c-means are known as effective and easy-to-implement approaches to clustering purposes in many applications. However, these algorithms cannot be directly applied to supervised tasks. This paper thus presents a generative model extending the centroid-based clustering approach to be applicable to ...

Energy partitioning for “fuzzy” atoms [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004
The total energy of a molecule is presented as a sum of one- and two-atomic energy components in terms of “fuzzy” atoms, i.e., such divisions of the three-dimensional physical space into atomic regions in which the regions assigned to the individual atoms have no sharp boundaries but exhibit a continuous transition from one to another.

Fuzzy Partition Optimization for Approximate Fuzzy Q-iteration [PDF]

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2008
Abstract Reinforcement learning (RL) is a widely used learning paradigm for adaptive agents. Because exact RL can only be applied to very simple problems, approximate algorithms are usually necessary in practice. Many algorithms for approximate RL rely on basis-function representations of the value function (or of the Q-function).

LG-FUZZY PARTITION OF UNITY

open access: yesJOURNAL OF RAMANUJAN SOCIETY OF MATHEMATICS AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES, 2022
In this paper, we define LGc-fuzzy Euclidean topological space with countable basis, which L denotes a complete distributive lattice and we show that each LGc-fuzzy open covering of this space can be refined to an LGc-fuzzy open covering that is locally finite.

Partitions and fuzziness

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1986
This paper presents properties of classical or generalized partitions. First of all, fuzzy binary relations are defined on a finite set, satisfying an extension of the transitivity property and associated with a distance. Characterizations of such relations by matricial properties are given.

Spaces with fuzzy partitions and fuzzy sets

open access: yesThe Oxford Journal of Intelligent Decision and Data Science, 2017
A theory of fuzzy objects is derived in the category $SpaceFP$ of spaces with fuzzy partitions, which generalize classical fuzzy sets and extensional maps in sets with similarity relations. It is proved that fuzzy objects in $SpaceFP$ can be characterized by some morphisms in the category of sets with similarity relations.

Fuzzy Measures and the Entropy of Fuzzy Partitions

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1993
The author defines an entropy of a fuzzy partition and proves some basic properties of it. His aim is to get such properties which are very similar to analogous properties for the entropy of probability measures. Therefore, the consideration must be restricted to bounded-sum-union and bounded-product-intersection of fuzzy sets (only in this case a ...
