Fuzzy random variables are mathematical descriptions for fuzzy stochastic phenomena, and are defined in several ways. Kwakernaak [142][143] first introduced the notion of fuzzy random variable. This concept was then developed by several researchers such as Puri and Ralescu [242], Kruse and Meyer [139], and Liu and Liu [188].

Liu [184] initialized the concept of random fuzzy variable. The primitive chance measure of random fuzzy event was defined by Liu [184] as a function from [0,1] to [0,1]. The expected value operator of random fuzzy variable was given by Liu and Liu [189].

Random sets and fuzzy random variables
1987In this section we will consider situations in which two different types of uncertainty — vagueness and randomness, appear simultaneously. A random experiment is described as usual by a probability space (ΩuP), where Ω is the set of all possible outcomes of the experiment, u is a σ-algebra of subsets of Ω (the set of all possible events), and the set ...

In this paper, we propose an interactive method for multiobjective linear programming problems, in which fuzzy coefficients, random variable coefficients and fuzzy random variable coefficients are involved in the objective functions respectively. In the proposed method, it is assumed that the decision maker has a fuzzy goal for each objective function,

Random variable with fuzzy probability
Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2003The authors consider finite probability spaces and, starting with interval-valued probabilities, they discuss fuzzy probabilities, fuzzy distribution, fuzzy expectation and fuzzy variance, but unfortunately without any reference to earlier well-justified non-Chinese developments.

A fuzzy correlation coefficient for fuzzy random variables
FUZZ-IEEE'99. 1999 IEEE International Fuzzy Systems. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.99CH36315), 1999A fuzzy correlation coefficient is proposed for fuzzy random variables from the practical viewpoint, by using correlation coefficients between points in their level sets. The proposed correlation coefficient is applied to the analysis of the relationship between the meaning of the word "tall" and individual heights.
