A kernel-based framework for learning graded relations from data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Driven by a large number of potential applications in areas like bioinformatics, information retrieval and social network analysis, the problem setting of inferring relations between pairs of data objects has recently been investigated quite intensively ...

Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights from a large international sicca registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Purpose The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögrens International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods Retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0‐4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0‐3) as predictors of DED signs [abnormal ocular surface staining ...

A novel aggregation method for generating Pythagorean fuzzy numbers in multiple criteria group decision making: An application to materials selection

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2021
Pythagorean Fuzzy Numbers are more capable of modeling uncertainties in real-life decision-making situations than Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers. Majority of research in Pythagorean Fuzzy Numbers, used in Multiple Criteria Decision-Making problems, has ...

Using fuzzy logic to handle the semantic descriptions of music in a content-based retrieval system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper explores the potential use of fuzzy logic for semantic music recommendation. We show that a set of affective/emotive, structural and kinaesthetic descriptors can be used to formulate a query which allows the retrieval of intended music.

Extended Kalman filter-based learning of interval type-2 intuitionistic fuzzy logic system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fuzzy logic systems have been extensively applied for solving many real world application problems because they are found to be universal approximators and many methods, particularly, gradient descent (GD) methods have been widely adopted for the ...

NEW INVESTMENT DECISION-MAKING TOOL THAT COMBINES A FUZZY INFERENCE SYSTEM WITH REAL OPTION ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yesFUZZY ECONOMIC REVIEW, 2018
This paper proposes a new procedure for enriching investment and real option analysis performed with the fuzzy pay-off method by decomposing the pay-off distribution into multiple sub-distributions that correspond to different investment scenarios.

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

Information Granules Problem: An Efficient Solution of Real-Time Fuzzy Regression Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Informatics, 2014
Currently, Big Data is one of the common scenario which cannot be avoided. The presence of the voluminous amount of unstructured and semi-structured data would take too much time and cost too much money to load into a relational database for analysis purpose.

Measurement of Continuous Quantities and their Statistical Evaluation

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2014
Measurement results of continuous quantities are always more or less imprecise. This imprecision is different from errors. The most suitable mathematical model to describe imprecision is by special fuzzy subsets of the set of real numbers R, called ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
