Puncture resistance behaviors and efficiencies of angle-interlock fabrics impregnated with shear thickening fluids

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
STFs impregnation is an effective method to prepare impact resistance fabrics without sacrificing their flexibility, and the structural features are essential factors affecting the puncture resistance behaviors of these fabrics.

The effect of preforming and infusing bindered and unbindered carbon non-crimp-fabrics on the final quality of composites parts

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
Vacuum infusion (VI) is a liquid moulding process used to manufacture fibre-reinforced polymer composite parts. The VI process for non-crimp fabric (NCF) preforms is one of the most promising processes for improving the quality and cost efficiency of ...

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

FVF maps of two typical subjects from IGT group (A) and NGTLean group (B).

open access: yes, 2014
A: a 58 years old female who was diagnosed as IGT (BMI = 31.85), with a mean FVF of 24.23%. The fat phase and FVF map demonstrated that the deposition of fat is homogeneous. B: a 50 years old female (BMI = 23.13) with a mean FVF of 4.15%.

From Agro‐Industrial Waste to Functional Packaging Using Antimicrobial and Mechanically Reinforced Starch Foams With Melon Seed and Rosemary

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Agro‐industrial waste was upcycled into biodegradable starch foams reinforced with melon seed and rosemary flours, yielding sustainable food packaging with enhanced mechanical performance, selective antimicrobial activity, and rapid biodegradation. ABSTRACT The demand for sustainable alternatives to petroleum‐based packaging has promoted starch‐based ...

Reduced fertilization regimes could boost biocontrol service without reducing crop yield

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Fertilization level influences pest control effectiveness in tomato crops. High fertilization increases plant growth and aphid density but reduces the performance of the parasitoid Aphidius ervi. In contrast, the predator Adalia bipunctata maintains consistent aphid suppression regardless of fertilization regime.
