Genomic data reveal unexpected relatedness between a brown female Eastern Bluebird and her brood
Ecology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2024.We report on a female bluebird (Sialia sialis) with a brown phenotype that successfully found a mate and raised a brood of four chicks, which goes against expectations under sexual selection. The brown female and her mate were only related to their social offspring to the second degree and one of the offspring was a half‐sibling.
