TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Antioxidative Defence Mechanisms in Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum L.) Plants Sprayed with Different Pesticides and Boron compounds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Secondary Metabolite, 2018
Oxidative stress was investigated in Lycopersicum esculentum L. by applying various pesticides and boron compounds for two years, near Ortaca-Muğla. The field sections were treated separately by commercial pesticides and boron compounds i.e. tarimbor (TB)

Electromagnetic prompt response in an elastic wave cavity

open access: yes, 2015
A rapid, or prompt response, of an electromagnetic nature, is found in an elastic wave scattering experiment. The experiment is performed with torsional elastic waves in a quasi-one-dimensional cavity with one port, formed by a notch grooved at a certain

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

High incidence of rare TGFB1 haplotypes in children with biliary atresia

open access: yesВестник трансплантологии и искусственных органов
Objective: to evaluate the occurrence of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFB1) – rs1800469, rs1800470, rs1800471 – and their haplotypes in children with biliary atresia (BA).Materials and methods.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Probabilistic Approach to Fractional Integrals and the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev Inequality

open access: yes, 2013
We give a short summary of Varopoulos' generalised Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality for self-adjoint $C_{0}$ semigroups and give a new probabilistic representation of the classical fractional integral operators on $\R^n$ as projections of martingale ...
