A finite loop space not rationally equivalent to a compact Lie group

open access: yes, 2003
We construct a connected finite loop space of rank 66 and dimension 1254 whose rational cohomology is not isomorphic as a graded vector space to the rational cohomology of any compact Lie group, hence providing a counterexample to a classical conjecture.

Homotopy groups of $E_{C}^{hG_{24}}\wedge A_1$

open access: yes, 2019
Let $A_1$ be any spectrum in a class of finite spectra whose mod $2$ cohomology is isomorphic to a free module of rank one over the subalgebra $\mathcal{A}(1)$ of the Steenrod algebra. Let $E_{C}$ be the second Morava-$E$ theory associated to a universal

Group extensions with special properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Given a group G and a G-module A, we show how to determine up to isomorphism the extensions E of A by G so that A embeds as smallest non-trivial term of the derived series or of the lower central series into E.Comment: 13 pages, 2 ...

Large Gauge Hierarchy in Gauge-Higgs Unification

open access: yes, 2007
We study a five dimensional nonsupersymmetric SU(3) gauge theory compactified on $M^4\times S^1/Z_2$. The gauge hierarchy is discussed in the scenario of the gauge-Higgs unification.

Self-Dual Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Self-dual codes are important because many of the best codes known are of this type and they have a rich mathematical theory. Topics covered in this survey include codes over F_2, F_3, F_4, F_q, Z_4, Z_m, shadow codes, weight enumerators, Gleason-Pierce ...

Financial environment, dry powder, and the dynamics of private equity valuations

open access: yesInternational Review of Economics & Finance
Private equity investment strategies are shaped by the dynamic interplay of market conditions, prevailing lending environment, and uninvested capital (dry powder). Understanding these links is crucial for private market investors and managers. This study
