Non-arithmetic lattices and the Klein quartic

open access: yes, 2017
We give an algebro-geometric construction of some of the non-arithmetic ball quotients constructed by the author, Parker and Paupert. The new construction reveals a relationship between the corresponding orbifold fundamental groups and the automorphism ...

Probiotic potential and safety characterization of Enterococcus hirae G24 isolated from indigenous raw goat milk

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research, 2020
In this paper, an investigation on lactic acid bacterial isolates from ethnic goat raw milk samples were examined for their probiotic potential and safety parameters. For this purpose, isolated bacterial cultures were screened based on certain parameters viz., sugar fermentation, tolerance to temperature, salt, low pH, bile salts, and phenol resistance.

G24 Capillary Malformations - Arteriovenous Malformations/Arteriovenous Fistula Syndrome (CM-AVM Syndrome): An Under Recognised Clinical Entity? [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 2013
Background Hereditary Hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) tends to be the first condition to be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with high flow vascular malformations in combination with cutaneous vascular lesions. However, particularly in the paediatric population, capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation syndrome

Integrated Analysis of Transcriptome, microRNAs, and Chromatin Accessibility Revealed Potential Early B-Cell Factor1-Regulated Transcriptional Networks during the Early Development of Fetal Brown Adipose Tissues in Rabbits

open access: yesCells, 2022
In domestic mammals, cold stress decreases the survival rate of newborns and increases the cost of management. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is the main thermogenic organ for cubs, and well-developed fetal BAT (FBAT) is beneficial for newborns to maintain ...

Whole‐Genome Characterization of Rare Artiodactyl‐Like G10P [14] and G8P [14] Rotavirus A Strains Detected in Pediatric Gastroenteritis Cases in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Rotavirus alphagastroenteritidis (RVA) is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis in young children worldwide, as well as in a wide range of animal species. In 2020 and 2022, we identified three unusual RVA strains in pediatric gastroenteritis patients in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, using next‐generation sequencing: one G10P[14] strain ...

The B-L/Electroweak Hierarchy in Smooth Heterotic Compactifications

open access: yes, 2009
E8 X E8 heterotic string and M-theory, when appropriately compactified, can give rise to realistic, N=1 supersymmetric particle physics. In particular, the exact matter spectrum of the MSSM, including three right-handed neutrino supermultiplets, one per ...

The Climate Modeling Alliance Atmosphere Dynamical Core: Concepts, Numerics, and Scaling

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract This paper presents the dynamical core of the Climate Modeling Alliance (CliMA) atmosphere model, designed for efficient simulation of a wide range of atmospheric flows across scales. The core uses the nonhydrostatic equations of motion for a deep atmosphere, discretized with a hybrid approach that combines a spectral element method (SEM) in ...

Two-loop Calculation of Higgs Mass in Gauge-Higgs Unification: 5D Massless QED Compactified on S^1

open access: yes, 2006
We calculate the quantum corrections to the mass of the zero mode of the fifth component of the gauge field at two-loop level in a five dimensional massless QED compactified on S^1.

Large Variations in the Transpiration of Sorghum Canopies Under High Evaporative Demand Are Positively Related to Water Use Efficiency

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 1544-1560, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Transpiration restriction under high vapour pressure deficit (VPD), measured indoors with individual plants, increases water use efficiency (WUE). However, VPD is not the only factor driving transpiration, individual plants in a field rapidly become a canopy, and reports on the transpiration restriction versus WUE are scant.
