G41SSOD1mutation: A common ancestor for six ALS Italian families with an aggressive phenotype

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, 2009
More than 140 different mutations have been reported in the Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1) gene in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), some occurring as founder mutations. Occasionally, specific mutations are associated with a particular phenotype.

Characterization of an organic solvent-tolerant lipase from Haloarcula sp. G41 and its application for biodiesel production

Folia Microbiologica, 2014
A haloarchaeal strain G41 showing lipolytic activity was isolated from the saline soil of Yuncheng Salt Lake, China. Biochemical and physiological characterizations along with 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis placed the isolate in the genus Haloarcula.

Recurrent G41S mutation in Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase gene (SOD1) causing familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in a large Polish family

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, 2011
Mutations in the superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1) gene have been found in 12-23% of patients with a diagnosis of ALS. Here we describe a large ALS Polish family with a branch in France, carrying a G41S mutation in the SOD1, and characterized by an early onset of the disease and extremely short survival time.

G41(P) The use of peer design in the development of educational resources for adolescent type 1 diabetes patients

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT; EMBEDDING A CULTURE OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT, 2019
Objectives Young people with diabetes express a desire for information, and leaflets are often used as a medium for easy to process, ‘bite-size’ knowledge. However, most leaflets that are available are designed for an adult audience, making it difficult for teenagers to access and digest the information effectively. We set out to create ‘peer-designed’

Subacute Infection with Temperature-Sensitive Vesicular Stomatitis Virus Mutant G41 in the Central Nervous System of Mice. II. Immunofluorescent, Morphologic, and Immunologic Studies

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1979
Inoculation of three- to four-week-old BALB/c mice with temperature-sensitive (ts) vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) mutant G41 produced a subacute neurological disease mainly localized in the spinal cord. Meningitis and diffuse microglial infiltration of the anterior horns of the spinal cord were seen starting six days after infection when neuronal ...

Subacute Infection with Temperature-Sensitive Vesicular Stomatitis Virus Mutant G41 in the Central Nervous System of Mice. I. Clinical and Virologic Studies

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1979
Inoculation of three- to four-week-old BALB/c mice with temperature-sensitive (ts) vesicular stomatitis virus mutant G41 produced a subacute neurological disease, initially characterized by development of lethargy, hunched posture, and ruffled fur within five to seven days after infection.

G41(P) Is ultrasound scanning as sensitive as computerised tomography in detecting clinically relevant skull fractures in children presenting following head injury?

Archives of Disease in Childhood, 2014
Aims To examine evidence comparing the use of computerised tomography and ultrasound in detecting paediatric skull fractures when children present with a head injury. Methods Medline library searched using the Pubmed interface – search terms [(head OR skull) AND (fracture OR injury) AND ultrasound AND CT AND (infant or child*)].
