The occurrence of ophiolites in the Beishan Orogenic Belt (BOB), located in the southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB), is critical for elucidating the tectonic evolution of the southern part of the Paleo-Asian Ocean (PAO).

Abstract The North Qiangtang Block occupies a pivotal position within the eastern Tethyan realm, and its paleogeographic reconstruction is critical for constraining Tethyan geometry and evolution. However, its Late Paleozoic paleogeography and Paleo‐Tethyan Ocean–continent configuration remain controversial due to limited reliable age‐constrained ...

Clasts of albite‐porphyroblastic quartzofeldspathic schist, derived from the Otago Schist basement, occur within the Port Chalmers Breccia, a diatreme at the centre of the Dunedin stratovolcano, New Zealand. Schists have undergone varying degrees of replacement reactions (at temperatures of 300° to >500°C) producing hornfelses, with Ca‐ and K‐enriched ...

Geochemistry of some gabbros from Muhammad Qol area, Northern Red Sea Hills, Sudan Republic [PDF]
The Muhammad Qol gabbros can be classified as 3 main rock units comprising olivine pyroxene gabbros, pyroxene gabbros and hornblende pyroxene gabbros. The modal and normative minerals together with the chemical data show that the three rock types were ...

Abstract At slow‐spreading mid‐ocean ridges large scale detachment faults partly accommodate the spreading process. The mafic and ultramafic rocks at the ridges are infiltrated by water and change their mineralogy. Subsequently or contemporaneously to these reactions, detachment faulting takes place.
